They frequently — especially as pups — come under cars, get into dog fights, or become infected with rabies. Any number of gruesome and heartbreaking things befall them.

To counter the stray dog issue, we are sterilizing the female dogs of our immediate area before spreading to surrounding villages. If you can sterilize 70% of the breeding population each breeding season, you begin to reduce the number of dogs!
