WHEAT DALIA WITH PUNJABI WADI FROM PUNJAB

Ingredients

  1. 2 tsp coconut oil
  2. ½ cup dalia / broken wheat
  3. 1 tsp jeera / cumin seeds
  4. pinch of hing / asafoetida
  5. ½ tsp ginger paste
  6. 2 green chilli, slit
  7. 2 Punjabi wadi
  8. 2 tbsp peas / matar
  9. 1 small capsicum
  10. ½ carrot, chopped
  11. ½ tsp turmeric / haldi
  12. salt to taste
  13. ½ cup green moong dal, soaked
  14. 4 cups water

Procedure

  1. Firstly, in a pan heat 1 tsp oil
  2. Add in ½ cup dalia / broken wheat and roast on low flame.
  3. Roast for 2-3 minutes or till dalia turns aromatic. keep aside.
  4. Further in a cooker heat 1 tsp oil, 1 tsp jeera and pinch of hing.
  5. Saute till the jeera splutters.
  6. Add broken punjabi wadi and roast.
  7. Additionally, add in ½ tsp ginger paste and 2 green chilli. saute for a minute.
  8. Furthermore add in 1 tomato and saute till it turns soft and mushy.
  9. Add peas, carrot, capsicum, turmeric and Salt to taste.
  10. Saute for a minute or two.
  11. Add in ½ cup green moong dal, soaked for 20 minutes.
  12. Saute for a minute.
  13. Now water and give a good stir.
  14. Cover and pressure cook for 3 whistles or till dalia gets cooked completely.
  15. Finally, serve mixed vegetable dalia with butter milk or some pickle.
