Thepla from Gujarat

Gujarati Thepla is a must try lightly spiced paratha/ Indian flat-bread prepared from wheat flour (fenugreek leaves optional) and other spices. The real secret of these theplas lies in making perfect dough, which has just the right balance of spices.


  1. Wheat flour 1 cup
  2. Turmeric ¼ tsp
  3. Red Chilly Powder to taste
  4. Hing- a pinch
  5. White Sesame seeds - 1 tbsp
  6. Oil 4-5 tsp
  7. Curd ¼ cup
  8. Green Chilly 2 cut finely (optional)
  9. Salt to taste


  1. Knead the flour into a soft dough.
  2. Roll into Rotis and cook both sides on tawa with little oil.
The Thepla is ready to be served with pickle or yogurt.
