Rasam Powder from Tamil Nadu

Rasam Powder is an aromatic and spicy mixture of ground spices and is added while preparing various types of south Indian style lentil soups called Rasam. One advantage of preparing it at home is that one can adjust the amount of spiciness as per requirement. There are myriad versions of the spice mix and Rasam.
- 2 parts whole Black Pepper
- 2 parts Jeera seeds
- 2 parts Dhania/ coriander seeds
- Dried Red Chilli (optional)
- Haldi 1 tsp
- 1 part Arhar Dal
- Dry roast all these and grind and store with haldi added.
The Rasam Masala is now ready to be added to any type of Rasam!
