The famous South Indian gunpowder chutney is spicy hot--hence the name! It doesn't fail to add a zing to the dish . Best served with Dosa, Idli and even rice.


  1. Whole red chillies-100g
  2. Split Bengal Gram-100g
  3. Sesame seeds-50g
  4. Dry coconut-50g
  5. Salt- to taste
  6. Mustard oil-4-5 tbs


  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Add all ingredients and roast till it browns.
  3. Cool the mix and grind it, to powder.
  4. The Gun powder is now ready!
